1. What the app is, and is not

Smart Glasses Scanner is an awareness aid. It analyses Bluetooth Low Energy advertisements received by your iPhone, compares them with a catalogue of researched signatures, and shows you which evidence matched and how confident the result is. It is provided on a best-effort basis.

It is not a security product, a surveillance-detection guarantee, or a substitute for your own judgement. It cannot determine whether anyone is recording, cannot identify people, cannot measure distance, and cannot confirm that no smart glasses are present. A detection is not evidence that a person has done anything, and should never be the sole basis for confronting someone or for any disciplinary, employment or legal decision.

2. No warranty of detection

Detection depends on factors outside our control: whether a device advertises at all, how its manufacturer uses Bluetooth identifiers, the restrictions Apple places on scanning, radio conditions, and the state of your phone. We make no warranty that the app will detect any particular device, model or generation, in any particular state or environment, or that it will not report matches for devices that are not smart glasses. Detection statuses shown in the app and on this website are research statuses and change as testing progresses.

3. Website content

The research and device pages on this website are published for information. We label statements as known facts, observations, inferences or unknowns and cite sources, but we do not guarantee that any statement is complete, current or error-free. Manufacturers change their products and pages; the "accessed" date on each source shows when we read it.

4. No legal advice

Nothing on this website or in the app is legal advice. Rules about recording, consent and privacy differ between jurisdictions and institutions. If you need to know how they apply to you, your school or your workplace, consult a qualified adviser.

5. Acceptable use

You agree not to use the app or this website to harass, stalk or track any person, to interfere with any device or network, or in any way that breaks the law where you are. The app only listens to public advertisements; it does not and cannot connect to or control other devices.

6. Purchases

If the app offers optional paid features, purchases are made through Apple's App Store and in-app purchase system under Apple's terms. Apple handles billing, receipts and refunds; refund requests are made to Apple and decided under Apple's refund rules, not by us. Prices are shown in the App Store before you buy. No account with us is created by a purchase.

7. Privacy

How the app and this website handle data is described on the privacy page, which forms part of these terms.

8. Intellectual property

The app, this website and their text, code and design are ours unless stated otherwise. Bluetooth SIG assigned numbers are public registry data. Product names such as Ray-Ban Meta, Oakley Meta, Spectacles, Even G1 and Vuzix are trademarks of their respective owners; we are not affiliated with or endorsed by any of them, nor by Apple or the Bluetooth SIG.

9. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, the app and this website are provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, and we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from their use or from reliance on any detection, non-detection or statement, including indirect or consequential loss. Nothing in these terms excludes liability that cannot be excluded by law, including your statutory rights as a consumer where they apply.

10. Changes

We may update these terms when the app changes or the law requires it. The date at the top is the last revision. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated terms.

11. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of [jurisdiction], and any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of [jurisdiction], without affecting any mandatory consumer protections that apply where you live.

12. Contact

Questions about these terms can be sent through the contact details on the about page.
